Sample Games: White plays 8.Bg5!?
This next game is my contribution to the theory of the Nikolayev Gambit, it was played in the 2011 Golden Knights Preliminary round against a strong correspondence expert (AND NM with an OTB rating of >2200). At some later point I’ll write and article regarding the joys of correspondence but now is neither the time nor the forum. I firmly believe that correspondence is the “true” testing ground for gambit opening play and hopefully this game will helps demonstrate the ideas behind Igor’s moves (~ed).
